The Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians have partnered with four other tribal nations to establish the Chuckwalla National Monument Intertribal Commission, a collaborative effort to ensure that tribal values, cultural heritage, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge guide management of the newly designated Chuckwalla National Monument.
This historic commission demonstrates long-standing tribal stewardship over more than 600,000 acres of ancestral homelands and reinforces Indigenous leadership in land conservation and cultural protection.
