The Torres Martinez tribe is a federally recognized tribe. Their governing document is a constitution adopted on November 9, 1997 (with amendments as of November 20, 2004). Under that constitution, the tribal government consists of a “General Council” (all enrolled members) and a “Tribal Council” the latter being the elected governing body. The Tribal Council is elected every two years by the general membership. According to a secondary source, there are eight Tribal Council members.
