Scavenger Hunt

Ten eligible TMTT Youth (1&2 or 3&4) who are between the ages of 6 to 11 years old. will be invited to sign-up for the Thermal FPS Youth Department’s Scavenger Hunt. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 2:30pm to 5:30pm at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park, located at 43900 San Pablo Avenue, Palm Desert, CA. 92260. Sign-ups will be on a first come, first serve basis.
The event will offer Youth participants the opportunity to learn many benefits of participating in a Scavenger Hunt. This includes, Retention of Learned Material, which through repetition of language, vocabulary terms and concepts, is great for retention of helps children make real-world applications. Another benefit includes Fostering Ownership of Learning. This is accomplished by strategizing ideas which will allow assessment, reflection and brainstorming. Other benefits include Collaboration and Teamwork. This is accomplished by participants working in small groups to share ideas, problem-solve, and make decisions together. One last benefit includes building Observational Skills. This is accomplished by participants being aware of their surroundings as they take notes and are attentive to follow clues. The event will apply TMTANF Academic standards by promoting Success in Education through Literacy and Arithmetic.
