Attitude of Gratitude
December 16, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
“Attitude of Gratitude Prevention”
Thermal – FPS Youth Dept.
(1st to 5th grade)
15 eligible TANF youth will be invited to sign-up for the Attitude of Gratitude Prevention. The event will be held on Saturday December 16, 2023.
We will be using Art and Crafts to communicate with the youth. The youth will be painting or drawing pictures of themselves on how they are feeling about the upcoming holidays. They will be able to paint on ornaments to express how they are feeling. We will go over the different emotions, Happy, Sad, Angry. We will explain to them that it’s ok to feel the way they are feeling. We will create a safe place for them to be able to express their emotion through art & crafts. They don’t have to talk about their feelings, they can express how they feel through painting or drawing.
We will also go over the different styles of drawing, art and colors. The youth will display their finished projects to everyone in the classroom and explain why they choose the colors they picked on their artwork.
Youth who are encouraged to use their imagination and enhance their curiosity tend to adjust and excel even in adverse environments. Youth who have developed a sense of self-worth and confidence are more likely to succeed academically and less likely to partake in self-destructive behaviors. Enhancing their wellbeing and preventing or reducing the rate of out-of-wedlock pregnancies.
