Middle School is Cool

The event will offer Youth participants the opportunity to learn important aspects of Middle School, which will allow students to become confident when navigating through school. The following four topics will be discussed during the workshop. The first topic is regarding “What Classes to take?” This will help students understand that besides taking the required courses in middle school such as science, math, etc.; students will also learn the importance of taking Another Language Class and Algebra I. These classes will help them as they advance from middle school and go onto high school. The second topic is regarding “What’s the role of a School Counselor?” Students will learn the vital role a School Counselor has within the school and how they can assist students with Academic planning and advocating for students. The final topic is “What are Extra-Curricular Activities?” Besides ECA being an opportunity for students to have fun; students will learn the importance of participating in them. This includes the benefits it provides by allowing students the opportunity to develop a talent or interest, be a leader, or help out in their community. ECA also benefits students when they prepare to apply for college.
