“Grateful Hearts”
Thermal – FPS Youth Dept.
(1st to 5th grade)
15 eligible TANF youth will be invited to sign-up for the Grateful Hearts. The event will be held on Saturday December 12, 2023.
“Grateful Heart” is a program meant to encourage Native youth to be active and creative with their hands. Allowing them to communicate with their family. Allowing youth to express their thoughts and minds using their artistic abilities. The FPS Youth Department encourages our youth to open up and convey their emotions in a peaceful way through artistic expression. Furthermore, developing youth independence and confidence.
The youth department will be able to demonstrate social wellness and life abilities to encourage good character at the event. Allowing our youth to see social well-being as a motivation for a better education, giving back to family, and finally seeking and preventing out of wedlock pregnancies.
The youth will learn to fine tune their motor skills through Art expression activity to gain confidence in verbal, social and self-reliant native people in our community. Youth will be encouraged to use their imagination and enhance their curiosity and tend to adjust and excel even in adverse environments.
Youth who have developed a sense of self-worth and confidence are more likely to succeed academically and less likely to partake in self destructive behaviors. Enhancing their wellbeing and preventing or reducing the rate of out-of-wedlock pregnancies.
