Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Systems Architect operates across organizational and computing "silos" to drive common approaches and expose information assets and processes across the enterprise. The goal is to design, deliver, and support a systems architecture that supports the most efficient and secure IT environment meeting the Tribe’s organizational needs. Successful candidate must have knowledge of current supported versions of Microsoft Server, Exchange, LYNC, SharePoint, and VMWare; specific protocols: OSI Model, TCPIP, iSCSI, RAID 5/10, Clustering, Load Balancing; currently supported services such as IIS, Domain Name Services (DNS), DHCP, WSUS, deployment Services (WDS), Active Directory (AD), Terminal Services (TS), and Virtualization Technologies: Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare ESXi, APP-V, VMFusion, and VMware’s Site Recovery Manager (SRM); practices, procedures, techniques and tools used in the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of networked computer, server, and storage systems; computer hardware systems and software applications utilized by the organization; dtabase structures, on-line applications and system capabilities of the organization’s computer systems; manual instructions, sufficient to enable quick and accurate diagnosis of difficulties; hardware and software installation, configuration and operation; principles, methods and procedures of operating computers and peripheral equipment; applicable types of cabling systems and network design; inventory practices and procedures; oral and written communication skills. Must have the ability to promote shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows; work with the Senior Network Engineer to provide a consensus based enterprise solution that is scalable, adaptable and in synchronization with ever changing Tribal organizational needs; build employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise; perform a variety of system administration activities including establishing and maintaining user accounts, passwords, server and system back-ups, e-mail accounts and internet connectivity; repair and replace hardware as needed; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; work independently with little direction; plan and organize work; apply basic CISCO ISO principles and commands; meet schedules and time lines; work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and must always maintain cultural sensitivity.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: associate’s degree in computer science or related field and two years increasingly responsible systems administration experience.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Continuously throughout employment, must possess a valid California Class C driver's license and maintain insurability under the Tribe's vehicle insurance policy.
Certifications in current supported versions of Microsoft Server, Exchange, LYNC, SharePoint, and VMware. MCSE 2012 desirable.
