Under the direction of the Tribal Administrator, the Natural Resources Manager will plan, organize and direct the application for and implementation of grants to assure the preservation and to improve the self-sufficiency of the wetlands, provide reports to the Tribal Council and Tribal Administrator on the status of water resources, minerals, develop policies and procedures to sustain and manage natural environmental assets on tribal lands; conduct research studies as needed, develop, draft, and submit new grants to assist with Tribal objectives; coordinate and monitor the permitting process with a variety of outside environmental groups; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. Meet and coordinate with local, state and federal agencies, and organizations. Successful candidate must have the knowledge of local, State and federal environmental protection policies and regulations; preparation of planning documents, designs and specifications for restoration projects; grant writing practices, procedures and requirements.; budget preparation and control; oral and written communication skills; Must have ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret a variety of ecological data and information; coordinate communications, information, planning functions, contractors, consultants and grants in support of restoration projects; Identify project needs and issues, and develop restoration goals, objectives and specifications; provide consultation and technical expertise to Tribal staff regarding a variety of wetland issues. develop, maintain and update the wetland database; Review, analyze and assess the impact of proposed development projects on Tribal wetlands; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. meet schedules and time lines; work independently with little direction; prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports; direct the maintenance of a variety of reports, records and files related to assigned activities; work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and must always maintain cultural sensitivity.

This position requires driving in performance of duties and therefore requires possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the Tribe’s auto insurance policy throughout employment.

Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field and four years increasingly responsible environmental preservation experience.
