Under the direction of the Family Preservation Services Manager, plan, organize, coordinate and implement educational programs, series, and speakers for the dissemination of cultural knowledge; conduct cultural research; coordinate, develop, and implement a Native American language program for Tribal members; train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel. Successful candidate must have knowledge of planning, organization, coordination and implementation of a cultural education program: General educational programs, services and procedures related to Tribal traditions and culture: Practices, procedures and techniques involved in the planning, scheduling, development and implementation of cultural classes and learning activities: Practices, procedures and techniques involved in the collection and preparation of cultural materials: Instructional techniques and strategies related to cultural classes: Native American culture, history, traditions, and identities: Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Must have the ability to research, collect, compile, assemble and prepare cultural materials for classes and activities; Develop and arrange calendars and schedules for events, classes and activities; prepare, arrange and set up facilities, equipment and supplies for classes; serve as a liaison and coordinate communications and information related to cultural classes, events and activities between personnel, other departments, outside agencies, students and the public. Train and evaluate the performance of assigned staff: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including some public speaking: Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures: Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others: Operate a computer and assigned office equipment. Meet schedules and time lines: Work independently with little direction: Work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and must always maintain cultural sensitivity.

Education and Experience Requirements: Any combination equivalent to: bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, Native American Studies, or related field and three years increasingly responsible experience in the Native American community. This position has duties and responsibilities that require regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with PL 101-630.

This position requires driving in performance of duties and therefore requires possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the Tribe’s auto insurance policy throughout employment
