Position Description:

Coordinate and oversee daily operations and activities of Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians (ICWA) program. Participate in Child Protective Services (CPS) investigations and court proceedings involving tribal members of Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indian. Provide supportive services and the coordination of client resources in compliance with the Court and/or Child Protection Services requirements. Successful candidate must have knowledge and understanding of the Indian Child Welfare Act. (ICWA); Basic keyboarding and data entry skills including the ability to work with spreadsheets, databases, Internet browsers and/or word processing software; basic skills and abilities to develop plans for organizing multiple tasks, setting deadlines and preparing for future events. Must have the ability to act with tact, good judgment and discretion; effectively work with individuals under stressful conditions; maintain the confidentiality of matters, as appropriate; must have knowledge of TANF eligibility and requirements; knowledge of American Indian culture and experience working with American Indian communities.

This position requires driving in performance of duties and therefore requires possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the Tribe’s auto insurance policy throughout employment

Education and Experience Requirements: AA degree and two (2) years relevant work experience; ICWA certification; High School Diploma or GED and (4) years relevant work experience. This position has duties and responsibilities that require regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with PL 101- 630.
