Position Description:

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform a variety of duties related to protecting the students, personnel, facilities and grounds of an assigned area or location; patrol campus buildings and grounds on foot or in a vehicle and report security violations and incidents during assigned day, swing or midnight shift. Successful candidate must have knowledge of general investigative and law enforcement practices. City: State and local ordinances related to theft, arson, vandalism, malicious mischief and trespassing: Record-keeping techniques: Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy: Must have ability to communicate with personnel regarding security-related concerns and issues. Monitor facility surveillance systems to ensure the security of the property and personnel. Conduct foot and vehicular patrols of designated grounds and locations during an assigned shift. Evaluate security incidents and take appropriate action according to established guidelines. Respond to disturbances and emergency situations calmly and rationally. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Understand and work within scope of authority. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and must always maintain cultural sensitivity.

This position does not require driving.

Education and Experience Requirements: BSIS Security Guard Card. Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and 1 year experience in security or related field. This position has duties and responsibilities that require regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with PL 101-630.
