Under the direction to provide career guidance, assessment and development services to clients; schedule and administer assessment inventories; assist individual clients with developing academic, career and technical education and job searching skills. Successful candidate must have knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of providing educational and career and technical education assessment and guidance to clients: Training, educational and employment opportunities in the community: Basic interviewing and advisement techniques: Career and technical education and educational information and resources: Cultural Sensitivity: Native American Culture: Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy: Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary; Record-keeping and report preparation techniques; Basic public speaking techniques. Must have the ability to participate in a variety of client recruitment and enrollment activities; Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; Assess client needs and develop viable plans and alternatives; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Prepare and deliver oral presentations. Process a variety of forms and applications; Determine appropriate action within clearly defined guidelines; Work independently with minimal direction: Operate standard office equipment including a computer and assigned software; Maintain records and prepare reports.

This position requires driving in performance of duties and therefore requires possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the Tribe’s auto insurance policy throughout employment.

Education and Experience Requirements: Any combination equivalent to: associate’s degree in social sciences or a related field and two years’ experience providing job placement, educational advice or career guidance to clients. This position has duties and responsibilities that require regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with PL 101-630.
