Under direction of the Director, responsible for increasing and promoting two-parent homes by implementing policies and procedures to address family unity and promoting traditional marriages, parenting, couples counseling, etc. The primary function of this position is to promote two- parent families, healthy lifestyle, and positive decision making skills. The Family Perseverance Manager will be responsible for developing and creating ongoing functions that will assist couples, parents, and families with healthy alternatives. This position will assist in the oversight of the Family Perseverance staff. Successful candidate must have knowledge of Federal and state Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program and the Purposes of TANF; Microsoft Office, Word and Excel; basic internet research; Programs to promote healthy marriages and lifestyles in the Indian Community; Principles and practices of administration, supervision and training; Knowledge of American Indian culture and experience working with American Indian communities. Must have ability to monitor and evaluation programs and events; Maintain files in order and maintain records; Communicate and interact with youth, parents, and other community members. Work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and must always maintain cultural sensitivity. Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures; Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; Meet schedules and time lines. Work independently with little direction; Plan and organize work; Prepare narrative and statistical reports; Direct the maintenance of a variety of reports, records and files related to assigned activities.

This position requires driving in performance of duties and therefore requires possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the Tribe’s auto insurance policy throughout employment

Education and Experience Requirements: Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Public or Business Administration, Social Services, or Psychology and four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in administering or managing a TANF program or similar social services program, including two (2) years of administrative supervisory responsibility. This position has duties and responsibilities that require regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with PL 101-630.
