This position is responsible for ensuring that client’s substance abuse issues and quality of life needs are met. Successful candidate must have knowledge of principles and techniques of substance abuse counseling. Understanding of individual and group substance abuse treatment methods and theories. Understanding of socioeconomic and cultural factors which promote stable family life. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with clients and their family members. Understanding of intensive case management principles and techniques. Understanding of individual and group behavior. Ability to work effectively within an agency and community setting. Ability to utilize appropriate resources and services on behalf of client/family. Ability to provide consultations with other staff/agencies, as necessary. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other staff and community agency personnel. Basic knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. Knowledge of American Indian culture and experience working with American Indian communities. Knowledge of TANF program, including eligibility and program compliance requirements. Proven track record of providing clinical supervision/consultation for other substance abuse counselors. Must possess good oral and written communication skills. Must possess a valid California driver’s license and be eligible for authorization to operate agency owned vehicles as required by agency’s insurance carrier. Criminal Background Check Clearance ,Child Abuse Index Check Clearance. Valid Certificate/License to provide Substance Abuse Treatment Services in the State of California. Documentation of professional clinical supervision. Documentation of professional liability insurance.
Education and/or Experience Requirements: B.A. degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field, or A.A. degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field, and Five (5) years experience working as a Substance Abuse Counselor in a Social Services Agency. Two (2) years supervisory experience.
