Position Description:

Under the direction of the Transportation Manager, transports clients and passengers to and from designated locations for TANF purposes; performs minor maintenance on vehicles. Successful candidate must have knowledge of safe and defensive driving practices; applicable traffic laws, codes and regulations; methods and procedures used in servicing, minor repair and inspection of vehicles; basic record-keeping techniques; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; health and safety regulations. Must have the ability to learn and follow designated routes; maintain vehicle in clean and proper working condition; conduct safety inspections and perform routine preventive maintenance; Maintain routine records; Understand and follow oral and written directions; Communicate effectively with others; Meet schedules and time lines; Work with people from diverse cultures, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and must always maintain cultural sensitivity. This position requires driving in performance of duties and therefore requires possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the Tribe’s auto insurance policy throughout employment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school. Applicant must meet the licensing, certification and testing requirements of the position. This position has duties and responsibilities that require regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with PL 101-630.

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Passenger Endorsement: First Aid Certificate and  CPR: Mandated Reporter: Maintain a professional, neat and well –groomed appearance, adhering to TMDCI uniform requirements.
