Prepare Breakfast/Lunch and snacks following state/federal health standards and Torres Martinez Child Development and Education Center (CDEC) Pre-school standards. Maintain Daily Food Attendance log. Maintain inventory of food on hand, order food and food supplies for program and shopping for supplies when needed. Serve breakfast/lunch to children, and parent participants in “Family Style.” Person applying for the position must meet expectations for delivering customer quality food service, operational compliance, and other responsibilities as well as demonstrate expected behavior. Ability to respond appropriately in an emergency situation required. Ability to plan nutritious menus and prepare sufficient quantity of foods for center population. Ability to understand and follow special food plans for food-allergic children or children with other foods service special needs. Ability to be flexible in assignment and work hours required. Good organizational skills required. Must be able to apply CPR and first aid when necessary. Must possess valid California driver’s license and be eligible for authorization to operate agency owned vehicles as required by agency’s insurance carrier. Food Handlers certification required. Education and/or Experience requirements: High School Diploma or GED, 1+ years of institutional cooking experience, 2+ years of experience working with children, 1+ years of experience ordering food and related supplies. Familiarity with proper conditions and food storage. Familiarity with computers preferred, basic math skills required for measuring and calculating serving portions.
