Salary Range: $19.67- $25.05/hr
Under the direction of the Child Development Education Center Director, the Child Development Specialist will perform a variety of instructional and clerical duties designed to assist and support the Director in the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate programs and services of children from ages 3 – 5 years of age and their parents or guardians participating in the Torres Martinez Child Development and Education Center Pre-School. Person applying for the position must have Knowledge of general child growth and development principles, appropriate curriculum practice for preschoolers. Must possess basic record-keeping skills. Must be able to establish positive discipline for young children. Ability to model and maintain role as a responsible mentor of parent participants; willingness to participate and support community activities that sustain program goals and objectives. Must be proficient in MS Word and Outlook. Must possess good oral and written communication skills.Must be able to apply CPR and first aid when necessary. Must possess valid California driver’s license and be eligible for authorization to operate agency owned vehicles as required by agency’s insurance carrier.

Experience requirements
:
Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by twenty-four (24) units early childhood education/child development (EDE/CD) including core courses and sixteen (16) units General Education (GE) and two (2) years of experience as a teacher, tutor, instructional aid
and/or
Completion of an Associate Degree or higher in early childhood education/child development or related field, including three (3) semester units supervised field experience in ECE setting or the equivalent.
